Afterwards- The end

John and Jane had never made a move after that day. The simply became friends. The musical was amazing and got great rating from the viewers. They had a cast party after the musical was over for all their hard work. At the cast party, Julianne got up on a chair and said,
"Everyone! Everyone! I would like to say something!"
Everyone got quiet and looked at Julianne. Jane and John were talking to Alex and Lara when they heard Julianne.
"Ok, thank you. You all were amazing but if it wasn't for one person here, we wouldn't have had such a great a musical. John, if you didn't come into our lives, we would be doing some stupid musical that wouldn't have been the impressive. Plus, our lives wouldn't have changed. John, come up here!"
John moved forward, got up on the chair, and said,
"Well, this is a surprise. I wasn't expecting to make a speech. Really, everyone made this musical happen. You all helped me see that everything that is here, is what I want. This is what changed me. I can't wait to start next year and try again. Hopefully, next year I will do just as good, maybe even better. Thank you everyone!" John stepped down and everyone clapped.
John made his way to Jane, Lara, and Alex. Lara and Alex gave John a hug and said they were leaving. John said he was leaving too. John stepped outside and started for his car.
"John!" screamed Jane.
"Jane?" John said while turning around.
"John I have to say something."
"Well? Spit it out."
"John...when you said that everything here is what you want, what did you mean?"
John felt a strange feeling inside him that he hadn't felt in a while.
"Well, I meant about the musical. And myself. And....well.....you."
"Huh?"
"You heard me." John smiled and moved closer.
"But I thought you just liked me as a friend?"
"Oh, come on Jane. I didn't want either of us to get more hurt than we already did. When we were both happy and good, I was scared to try again. I was afraid that something would go wrong again."
"John, we are going to have problems. It just depends if we want to deal with them together."
They stood there just looking at each other in silent. John and Jane knew what they wanted. John got closer to her, looked at her, and whispered,
"I'm in love with you. And I'll always be in love with you."
Jane smiled and they kissed. It was passionate and long. No stage kiss. As they pulled away from their decade long kiss, they heard clapping. They turned to see Lara and Alex standing there. Alex said,
"Well, it's about time!"
Jane and John smiled. They finally went on a date. Without any distractions. John and Jane were finally happy. The happiness may not last forever, but it will always be there. Whatever happened, John and Jane were willing to face it, together.
