Chapt 8- Part 2

Jane immediately walked towards Julianne and John. As she got closer to the conversation, she heard,
"Julianne, I know I quit but I still need my job. I am not asking to be back in the musical, I just want to work backstage again."
"I don't know." Julianne said.
John then showed her the piece of paper that Jane had just noticed he was holding. Then, Jane saw Julianne smile brightly and hug him.
"I am so proud of you. I just knew you would get in. Let me just go talk to someone and I will definitely see what I can do."
Julianne walked away and Jane made her move. She walked in front of John and said,
"What are you doing here?"
"Well, it's nice to see you too."
"Seriously, what are you doing here?"
"I came back. I needed to figure out something. It was better I left. I had time to think and I did."
"Think about what exactly?"
"Think about my future and who will be in it."
"And who will be in it?"
"I don't know yet."
"John..."
"Jane, I don't know if I can trust you. It seems to me like you have something blocking me from getting close to you. Until you put down that wall, I get be with you. I am happy to be back. I will talk to you later."
John walked away and got stopped again by Alex.
"We need to talk."
"About what? We don't need to talk, you pretty much have Jane and everything else."
"About how I don't want any of this anymore. When you left, I realized, just then, how much you changed."
"What are you talking about?"
"Don't you see? When I first met you, you were a jerk. It might be mean but it is the truth. When you got here and everything happened, you changed quickly. You changed because you were actually happy where you were and happy with the person you saw. I was the one that turned into a jerk. No, I take that back, I turned into an asshole. I thought I needed what you did because it did so good for you. I shouldn't have done that. You may bunch me again if you want."
"Alex..."
"I am ready, punch me."
"Alex, I am not going to punch you. You finally see what I have been wanting you to see when we first got here together. And I know I was a jerk before. I am so thankful to be here. I am extremely happy here. That's why I am going to school here next year."
Alex's frown turned to a bright smile when he heard this. Then he shook John's hand and said,
"Congratulations! You will definitely do great things!"
"Thanks."
"So does this mean we're buddies again?"
"The best."
"One more thing."
"What?"
"What about Jane?"
"I...I don't think I will ever be with her again. Not like that anyway."
